I want to bring you up to date on what is happening in my life. I am in my senior year, graduating in May 2012 from Christopher Newport University. College has been a wonderful experience for me. I have learned much, made great friends, and have grown in my faith and feeling of purpose. Besides experiencing the pressure to make good grades, there is also the challenge of deciding what great activities to be involved in on campus. All of these activities, mainly a Christian organization called Campus Crusade for Christ, have shaped me in my ambitions and opinions of the world.
Campus Crusade for Christ (http://campuscrusadeforchrist.com) is a Christian ministry that has been impacting college students since 1951. The group is very active here at CNU and on another 4,000 campuses in the U.S. and overseas. God has used this ministry to help me grow in my faith and to give me an internal mission of sharing the news of Jesus Christ.
This summer I have an unbelievable opportunity to take part in a 10-week summer project at Walt Disney World. Campus Crusade summer missions projects like this one have been a very effective way to develop students for leadership on campus and beyond. During the summer I’ll be working at Walt Disney World, establishing new relationships, and learning how to share my faith with coworkers through intentional conversation.
There will also be great opportunities to share my faith with vacationers and college students around Orlando. Our group will be involved in outreaches at resort areas, on local campuses, and in the community. At the same time I will be in a small group Bible study and receive one-to-one mentoring from staff and student leaders. My heart’s desire is to increase my understanding of the Bible and deepen my relationship with God and His people. Truth be told, I am both very excited and nervous at the same time. I know I will be stretched as I do things I have never done before!
In order to make all this possible, I need to develop a team of ministry partners: a group of people like you who will give to make my trip possible. As you might imagine, raising the necessary funds will be one of my greatest steps of faith in preparation for the summer. I need a total of $3,000 by May 25th.
